We look forward to seeing you!
Not a long time ago, Wu Qingfeng, from Zhang Xu’s lab, introduced the function of cytoskeleton in adult neurogenesis briefly, and then Ma Chenyan, from Yuan xiaobing’s lab, introduced the neurogenesis in embryo. In this journal club, we will invite Huang Wei(黄薇), from Poo’s lab, to introduce the adult neurogensis.
Below is a brief introduction(modified from Huang Wei's manuscript):
Over the last 20 years, research has shown that neurogenesis, the creation of new brain cells, actually occurs throughout life in restricted brain in the adult human. Although the past decade has witnessed tremendous progress in addressing questions related to almost every aspect of adult neurogenesis in the mammalian brain, those questions including where neurogenesis happens, how it happens, why it happens, and, more importantly, how it might help the brain heal itself are still unsolved. From recent data, we can refer that if researchers can harness and enhance neurogenesis, it could lead to improved treatments for many disorders, diseases, or damage -- from Alzheimer's and epilepsy to stroke and traumatic brain injury -- and it can help keep our minds and memories sharp.

Since Huang Wei’s research work is focus on neuronal polariztion during adult neurogenesis, she would like to introduce us a recent review from Hongjun Song's lab and share her understanding on the adult neurogenesis with us.
