Hailan Hu Ph.D.

Dr. Hailan Hu is the Head of the Laboratory of Neural Circuit and Behavioral Plasticity. Dr. Hu graduated from Beijing University with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (1996). She pursued her Ph.D. degree in neuroscience at University of California at Berkeley, where she was a student of Prof. Corey Goodman, working on repulsive axon guidance. After completing PhD (2002), she conducted postdoctoral research with Dr. Julius Zhu at University of Virginia (2003-2004), and Dr. Roberto Malinow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (2004-2008), working on mechanisms regulating AMPA receptor trafficking in emotional behaviors and disease models. Dr. Hu joined ION as a Principal Investigator in Dec 2008. For her past and current researches, Dr. Hu has received the Howard Hughes Predoctoral Fellowship (1997-2002), the Damon Runyon Postdoctoral Fellowship (2003-2006), the Chinese Hundred Talent Plan Award (2009), and Shanghai Pujiang Talent Award (2010).
