| The General Instrument Facility was established in 1999 to provide effective support for basic but essential research needs to all scientists at the Institute of Neuroscience. The facility is open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 17:30pm; rooms 108, 112, 126 and the Radioactive Isotope Room are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Instruments currently available in the General Instruments Facility include: Pharmacia SMART protein purification system, FPLC protein purification system, Multi-Purpose Scintillation Counter, Gene Gun, UV-Spectrophotometer, Freeze-dry Machine, Speed Vacuum Plus, Ultracentrifuge (floor model), Centrifuge (floor model), Ultra Freezer, controlled environment incubator shakers, Phosphor imager, high resolution scanner and medical X-ray processor. The General Equipment Facility provides essential services including high quality Milli-RO + Milli-Q filtered water, autoclaving, icemaking and maintenance and care of all instruments in the General Equipments Facility. In addition, the manager of the General Equipment Facility is in charge of routine biosafety inspections at ION, correct disposal of biohazardous waste and daily administration of the Radioactive Isotope Room. |
