Molecular and Cellular Biology Core Facility

The molecular and cellular biology core facility was merged by general instruments facility and stem cell core facility in 2015. It’s now includes general instruments facility, isotope laboratory, stem cell laboratory and biosafety level-2 laboratory.
The general instruments facility provides logistic and technical support for ION labs, including:

  1. Logistic support: supply of Milli-RO water and Milli-Q water, high-temperature sterilization, storage and disposal of radioactive and biohazardous waste, regular safety inspections of all laboratories at ION.
  2. Maintain, repair and operate equipments; provide training and guidance of equipments.

  1. Technical service: High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC); On-line microdialysis coupled to HPLC; Cell analysis and cell sorting by Flow Cytometry

Isotope laboratory
The isotope laboratory provides essential equipments, safety and technical guidance for isotope experiments of ION.

Stem cell laboratory
The stem cell lab was created to facilitate the stem cell research in ION labs by providing services to stem cell researchers.
The stem cell facility will provide:

  1. Mouse and human embryonic stem cell (ES cell) lines
  2. Customized iPS cell derivation using non-integrating technologies from a variety of somatic cell types
  3. Genome engineered hESC or hiPS lines generated using TALEN or CRISPR genome editing technologies.
  4. Training in methods to maintain and differentiate pluripotent stem cells.

Biosafety level-2 laboratory

Biosafety level-2 lab located on the 1st floor in 23 Building. It provides safe environment for researches involving potentially hazardous biological agents (biosafety level 2).
