The Animal Facility provides the following services and support:

1. In charge of purchase of laboratory animals exclusively for the purpose of scientific research at the Institute of Neuroscience.

2. Housing, breeding and appropriate care of laboratory animals exclusively for research use, including:

(1) Transgenic and knockout mice (over 60 genotypes)
(2) Immunodeficient nude mice
(3) Standard mouse stains: BALB/c, C57BL/6, CBA,CD-1, FVB, ICR, Kunming
(4) Rats: SD, Wistar
(5) Guinea pigs
(6) Rabbits: Newzealand White
(7) Cats
(8) Frogs: Xenopus laevis
(9) Monkeys: Macaca mulatto

3. Training of all research scientists at ION in the appropriate care, handling and use of laboratory animals.
